When I was young and in grade school I went to a one room school. One teacher and 15 kids. Every year at Thanksgiving time we would have a fund raiser and my mom was in charge. We always had a Thanksgiving play and we always sang "Over the river and through the woods, to Grandmothers house we go..." My mom used the play as a fund raising campaign for the kids by holding a bakery auction. All the parents would go to the play and afterwards they would auction off all of the pies, cakes, cookies, Christmas candy. Now back then in the 60's to pay $5 for a pie was a lot of money. So I am very Thankful for the simple years of growing up where family and community were so very important. I love Thanksgiving.
